SGBox assembly
Ventilation
Since the beginning of SuperGreenLab the plan was to release a complete box. Just plug & play.
But since shipping complete furniture worldwide is not an easy and cheap task, we resorted to selling the electronics alone, so people could DIY their own.
Well, guess what we’re back at it!
Let me introduce to you, the SuperGreenBox.
It’s downloadable, easy to produce locally (google “laser cutting shop”), and easy to assemble.
No more power tools to use, no holes to make, no nothing. Just follow the guide and start growing😎
Ok we’re going to add some ventilation for temperature and humidity control.
But before that we need to add a carbon filter for potential smells.
The carbon filter is optional, if you like the smell and your neighbors can handle it, you can skip to the blower section.
Needed parts:
Grab the “filter-stack” and “filter-honeycomb” parts.
Insert the “filter-honeycomb” part inside the “filter-stack” part, make sure the little notch on the honeycomb is aligned with the little edge in the stack part.
Once in place you can add a layer of carbon pellets, no need to put too much, the air needs to go through easily.
The carbon pellets shouldn’t go higher than the honeycomb shape.
And finally you can add a sheet of foam/fabric filter to keep everything in place.
Do it for both.
Now take the “filter-top” part and insert the two zip ties in the small holes on both sides.
Make sure to have the zip tie heads toward the inside.
Now insert the filter-top part into the filter-stack part.
Insert the zip ties first to make sure the alignment is right.
And to keep everything in place, cut the head of a zip tie and slide it up the zip ties on the sides.
Alright we’re getting close:)
So now we’ll focus on the top part of the box, where all the electronics reside.
The first thing to setup is the blower and its carbon filter.
You will need:
Place the carbon filter through the outtake ventilation hole.
Then add the four m4x16mm with self-lock m4 nuts to keep everything tight.
Now from the top of the box, put the two parts called “blower-hole” and “blower-hole-2” like in the picture.
Now take the blower, insert the three m4x55mm screws in its holes, then pass the screws through the other parts.
Use the self locking nuts to keep everything in place.
The blower’s outtake should be facing towards the inside of the box.
Alright now we’re ready to install the controller!
That will take care of turning the lights on and off, control the blower based on the temperature and send you notification if things go wrong.
Btw the controller will have two LED channels left, and because it can manage up to three boxes in parallel, you will be able to extend your box with a veg box!
You will need:
